Animal Acupuncture
The practice of treating animals with
acupuncture goes back to around 2000-3000 BC and is closely associated
with human acupuncture. It is thought that the method of treating animals
was discovered when lame horses that were used in wartime were found to
become sound after being hit by arrows at different points on their body.
One of the principals attributed to acupuncture is the balance and
harmonious flow of energy (qi, pronounced chee) throughout the body.
Pathways that energy travels though are called meridians and when these
pathways become blocked and energy cant flow freely then symptoms will
appear. For example, if a kink happens in a water hose and the water
cant flow properly then an adequate supply of water to a plant will be
cut off and eventually the plant will die from lack of nourishment. Its
the same with the flow of energy in the bodies of our beloved pets,
without the proper energy supply to organs and tissue disease sets in
because they too cant receive their proper nourishment.
Animals respond very quickly to acupuncture. They usually love to be
treated and relax as soon as the first needle is inserted. They can be
treated for any and all types of physical, emotionally and behavioral
problems. Acupuncture can also be used for prevention of disease.
